Last Weeks Topic...

What did we talk about last week? Ethics and Philosophy? I went out to the TP site (oh... i don't like that) Truth Project site, thinking that i would see something that would trigger something in my memory, but there is nothing there to help with that. I don't have my notes with me.

The painting (School of Athens) that they showed, with the symbolism, yeah that was weird. By looking at that painting you could NEVER get that unless some sat down with you and asked that you take out a notebook and pen, cuz this one's complicated...

Pete: And who's the pathetic guy that looks he just fell down the stairs, in blue?

Scholar: That would be Diogenes of Sinope who was exiled from his native city and moved to Athens, where he is said to have become a disciple of Antisthenes, the former pupil of Socrates.

Pete: How do you spell "Antisthenes"?

Scholar: It doesn't matter, just sound it out. Diogenes, a beggar who made his home in the streets of Athens, made a virtue of extreme poverty. He is said to have lived in a large tub, rather than a house, and to have walked through the streets carrying a lantern in the daytime, claiming to be looking for an honest man, but unable to find one.

Pete: Seriously, we know this because....?

Scholar: [Rolls Eyes] He eventually settled in Corinth....

Pete: PAUL, RIGHT?

Scholar: Ah, no....where he continued to pursue the Cynic ideal of self-sufficiency: a life which was natural and not dependent upon the luxuries of civilization.

Pete: [snickers] luxuries of civilization? Like toilet paper?

Scholar: [rapidly]... believing that virtue was better revealed in action and not theory, his life was a relentless campaign to debunk the social values and institutions of what he saw as a corrupt society. [Marches off stage, a bit steamed]

Sorry... that was in my mind and it needed to come out.

Truth Project. A project about the Truth. The truth is that i can't remember stuff. Maybe I don't need to. Not just yet.

I liked seeing Hector there on Sunday. We don't have his email address yet. We should get it.

Later ;)

Welcome!

Well, here it is...

Welcome to 21st century where strangely "blogging" for Jesus is yet another avenue to bring us closer together and share our ideas, bet John didn't see that in his revelation!
